The Power of Parent Support

Because peace in your heart leads to peace in your home.

Sometimes parents just want to find a therapist to “fix” their kid.

If only it were that easy. You are more important to your child than I (or any therapist) will ever be.

And YOUR emotional and mental well being DIRECTLY impacts your child’s emotional and mental well being.

That’s the whole “apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” thing.

Which is why YOU need support.
Having the knowledge, skills and confidence to support your kid EVERY DAY is like having a magic wand. It changes their entire world and is much more effective than 45 minutes once a week with a professional. (Plus it will save you thousands of dollars in therapy bills!)

My unique approach is simple, science-based, and sustainable.

My Approach

Sticker charts, time outs and counting to 3 might be temporary solutions, but they don’t make for long term change in your home.

It’s time for a new way of parenting. My unique approach is simple.

BEGIN WITH THE BRAIN

We start with understanding our child’s brain development and brain state (I promise – I make the science super simple!) When we know which brain state our child is in, we know what type of connection they need and how to most effectively intervene in the moment.

WONDER WHY

Behavior is a language.
Our job is to understand what our child’s behavior is communicating.

When they are a baby, this comes naturally.
They’re fussing = they’re getting overtired and need a nap.
They’re whining = they need some stimulation – might be time for a stroller walk.
They’re screaming = get that baby fed!

As our kids get older the way they communicate may change (tantrums, avoidance, opposition) but the needs are still there. When we take the time to “wonder why” the behavior is happening, we can figure out how to help them communicate in more cooperative, connected ways.

PARENT THROUGH PLAY

Play is a child’s natural language. It expands self-expression, helps a kid regulate their emotions and builds their problem solving skills.a

I know, I know. Most of us (myself included!) would rather scroll social media looking for “Paul Rudd’s Secrets to Looking Young” than play another round of pretend school, where somehow you’re always the student in trouble. But you don’t have to spend 3 hours a day zooming Lightening McQueen around your carpet to use play skills effectively.

I help parents learn how to use the language of play to help kids express their needs, release their big feelings and practice positive ways of behaving in as little as 5 minutes a day. The techniques are simple but effective and bring more joy and fun into family life.

Carley has truly changed my life in so many ways, and as a result has also changed my husband’s, my daughter’s, and of course, my son’s! The stars aligned when I was recommended to PACE, and I couldn’t imagine the place I would be in today if I didn’t move forward with Carley’s help!
